A Grand Production

A grand production
Make up, music
Entertaining drama
But to practice
There's no chance
For this is life
Without any choice
It is mine

I must dress up
Now I can hide
Behind a beard
Cover up my tears
Big clown shoes
For my woes
And no one
Will ever know

I must sing
With all my might
A tune I was never taught
I must dance the steps I'm told
Even though
No one
Showed me how

Indeed
A grand production
Of moments in life's play
For when the curtains open
And I appear on stage
This is my chance
To perform my very best
For me

  1. that was an unexpected little twist at the end. i liked it. it's like that saying that life is not so much about what you get so much as how you take it.

  2. ok, this one i'm not sure i get. do you think it's a good thing to put on a "show" to the world - to show a happy side even if inside you are sad - or is it a bad thing 'cuz it's not authentic?

  3. it really is both- fake it till you make it. when you do good it helps you feel good. and doing productive things even when you don't feel like it still gets the job done. on the other hand, it is important to express your feelings, no matter how yucky they are. that helps you feel better too
